BIS seize 30,000 sanitary pads lacking ISI mark in Hyderabad
Synopsis: In Tuesday’s wrap of Telangana news— In Hyderabad, the BIS seized 30,000 sanitary pads lacking the ISI mark during a raid at a Kushaiguda facility. Meanwhile, BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao demanded CM Revanth Reddy’s resignation over alleged police atrocities in Lagcherla, where farmers were tortured and women mistreated. KTR vowed to move the Supreme Court if officers involved are not dismissed
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) seized 30,000 sanitary pads and 7,000 unlabelled packets during a raid in Kushaiguda on Monday. The seized items lacked the mandatory ISI mark, violating BIS norms. The Government of India has mandated Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for sanitary pads since 2019.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao demanded Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s resignation over alleged police excesses in Lagcherla, Kodangal. “He must step down if he has any shame,” KTR said, citing the CM’s failure as Kodangal MLA, Home Minister, and state head.
KTR accused the police of torturing 40 farmers and behaving inappropriately with local women. He demanded the immediate dismissal—not suspension—of the officers involved. “If you don’t act, we’ll move the Supreme Court,” he warned.
He also lauded the Banjara women of Hakimpet, Kodangal, who voluntarily contributed ₹1 lakh to the BRS party, saying, “It made me truly happy.”
