Synopsis: In Tuesday’s wrap of news and developments in Telangana— Tension rose at Mamnoor Airport as farmers protested land acquisition, demanding road access and compensation. IT officials raided Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions across multiple cities over tax evasion. KTR accused Revanth Reddy of conspiring in a scam involving TDRs and FSI in Hyderabad and challenged him to go on a hunger strike for BC reservations.
Tension rose at Mamnoor Airport on Tuesday, 11 March, as farmers, protesting the loss of their land for the airport’s construction, demanded justice. They called for the Nakalapalli road to remain open and for an alternative route to be provided. The protest, which saw strong participation from women, led to a heavy police presence.
As the authorities attempted a land acquisition survey, the farmers and women gathered in large numbers to block it. Hanumkonda RDO Satyapal Reddy and Tahsildar Nageshwar Rao arrived but were confronted by the protesters demanding justice. Following the protest, the Warangal RDO and Tahsildar contacted the Collector and decided to temporarily halt the survey.
While supportive of the airport, farmers are concerned about the closure of the main road linking Nakalapalli, Gunturupalli, and Nekonda. Despite raising concerns with officials, they received no satisfactory response, prompting the protest. They further claimed that Minister Konda Surekha had promised compensation or alternative agricultural land, along with basic amenities.
IT officials have raided Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions’ offices across multiple India, including Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, in response to allegations of excessive fee collection and tax evasion. During the raids, officials uncovered illegal transactions, including the collection of fees without receipts and the use of software to collect cash and underreport taxes. Preliminary investigations revealed that the institutions misrepresented financial records to evade taxes. However, IT officials have not yet issued an official statement.
BRS Working President KTR accused CM Revanth Reddy of conspiring to create a massive scam involving the Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) and Floor Space Index (FSI) in Hyderabad. KTR accused Revanth’s “group” of purchasing TDRs at low rates and, after imposing FSI limits, raising the demand for TDRs to sell them at higher rates. He described this as insider trading and called for a CBI and ED investigation.
KTR challenged Revanth Reddy to go on a hunger strike in Delhi if he’s truly committed to 42 percent reservation for Backward Classes. He accused Revanth of covertly working for the BJP, making deals with Modi, and sidelining Minister Sridhar Babu.
KTR criticized Revanth Reddy for opposing the Formula-E race budget of ₹46 crore but not questioning the ₹200 crore spent on the Miss World pageant. He challenged Revanth to explain its job impact and accused him of lacking a real agenda, focusing only on creating confusion and gaining political leverage.
