Despite reports of lobbying by the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) for a seat, the Congress has retained all three seats it is assured of winning due to its strength in the assembly.
The party’s selection includes key figures involved in managing party operations and district Congress committees.
Addanki Dayakar, general secretary of the Telangana Congress and a senior spokesperson, contested the 2018 elections from the Thungathurthy assembly constituency, a Scheduled Caste (SC) reserved seat, where he finished as runner-up to Gadari Kishore Kumar of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
Kethavath Shankar Naik serves as the Nalgonda district Congress committee president.
Actor-turned-politician Vijayashanthi, who resigned from the Congress in 2020 to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before returning to the Congress in November 2023, has secured the final nomination.
