Telangana Endowments Minister Konda Surekha and State Planning Board vice-chairman G Chinna Reddy are both set to lose their positions.
The disciplinary committee of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee has recommended “stringent action” against the two of them.
As first reported by The South First, it is now more or less certain that the central leadership will act against Surekha and Chinna Reddy, armed with a detailed report submitted by the disciplinary committee.
The AICC leadership did not want to give an impression that it had acted unilaterally. Therefore, it had asked the disciplinary panel to issue show cause notices to Surekha and Chinna Reddy. The two replied to the notices, but the committee felt that their actions amounted to a serious breach of party discipline.
Disciplinary committee chairman Mallu Ravi confirmed on Tuesday, August 25, that the report was handed over to PCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud and he, in turn, would place it before the high command.
A few days ago, Konda Susmita, daughter of Surekha, made a series of allegations against the Chief Minister. Branding him as arrogant and accusing him of converting Telangana Congress into “Telugu Desam Congress”, she warned that she would expose many scandals involving Revanth Reddy’s family, including the allotment of land to the CM’s brother.
Back in October 2025 too, Susmita kicked up a row when police visited the residence of Surekha in connection with an extortion case against the minister’s then aide. She had then spoken of contracts and accused Revanth Reddy and a couple of other ministers of interfering in portfolios held by her mother.
Interestingly, Surekha did not show any remorse for her daughter’s remarks. Responding to a show cause notice issued by the Telangana Congress Committee, she argued that she could not be held responsible for the “personal views” of another individual (her daughter). She demanded that the show cause notice be withdrawn.
Around the same time as the Susmita episode, senior Congress leader Chinna Reddy threatened to revolt against the party leadership if they did not mend their ways. He accused Revanth Reddy of not giving him a ticket in the 2023 elections because someone else (the sitting Congress MLA from Wanaparthy) paid money.
