A video that went viral on Friday, 6 October, purportedly showed Telangana’s Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali slapping his security personnel at a public event for not getting him a bouquet on time.
The home minister was meeting Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, at the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme in Hyderabad.
In the video, Ali is seen hugging Yadav at an official function turning towards the security man and then slapping him.
Ali, who wished Yadav on his birthday, was upset with the security officer for not handing over a bouquet to him on time.
The bouquet was meant to be presented to Yadav.
The BJP condemned the minister’s “unacceptable” behaviour.
“I strongly condemn the incident of Telangana’s Home Minister @mahmoodalibrs slapping security personnel. Leadership should be built on respect and decorum. This behaviour is unacceptable and sets a poor example,” BJP MP Arvind Dharmapuri said on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Further, the BJP leader said that KT Rama Rao should respond to this behaviour of the state home minister. Addressing the media, Dharmapuri said, “A case should be registered against him (Mahmood Ali), the deputy chief minister, who also handles the home ministry.”
He added, “This is sheer arrogance, KTR and the DGP have to respond to this. What kind of a home minister treats his own personal staff like this?”
A complaint was filed against the home minister for slapping the security personnel by Congress leader Judson Bakka at the SR Nagar police station on 6 October.
