Telangana High Court to have a new building as CM explores new role for current structure

Revanth Reddy asked officials to make arrangements for laying the foundation stone for the new building in Hyderabad in January.

The Telangana High Court will have a new building. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has asked officials to make necessary arrangements for laying the foundation stone for the building over an area of 100 acres in Rajendranagar in Hyderabad in January.

The chief minister announced the decision at a review meeting with MCR-HRD officials.

Revanth said he was in favour of the new building when Telangana High Court Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and advocates brought it to his notice. They also sought the release of funds for its construction.

The chief justice also requested the chief minister to take the initiative for the construction of new buildings for district courts.

The current building

The chief minister told them that the building currently housing the high court was a heritage structure and that it had to be preserved.

He said he would examine if the building could be used for the functioning of city courts or any other court.

Those who attended the review meeting included chief secretary A Santhi Kumari, principal secretary to the chief minister V Sheshadri, and the collectors of Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts.
