Telangana High Court

In its legal battle with the Telangana government, the BJP had the last laugh on Thursday, 25 August, when the Telangana High Court allowed its state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar to resume his Praja Sangrama Yatra.

The police disrupted the padayatra in Janagoan on 23 August citing lack of permission as the reason.

The high court suspended the orders issued by the Wardhannapet ACP that Sanjay Kumar’s yatra would incite passions and was posing a threat to law and order.

The court described the order — which had said there was “apprehension of breach of peace in the area, resulting in serious law-and-order problems” because of the padayatra and a Dharma Deeksha programme — as unconstitutional.

According to sources, Sanjay Kumar is all set to resume his padayatra from Friday.

The yatra is expected tp reach Warangal on 28 August, and will culminate in a huge public meeting to be addressed by among others BJP president JP Nadda.
