Synopsis: Telangana CM Revanth Reddy placed the state on high alert following Operation Sindoor, ahead of a Civil Defence drill. He cancelled emergency staff leaves, ordered detentions of illegal foreign nationals, and tightened security across key zones. A solidarity rally for the Indian Army will be held on 8 May. Measures include enhanced surveillance, cybersecurity, medical preparedness, and public safety coordination.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Wednesday, 7 May, chaired an emergency review meeting at the Hyderabad Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in the wake of Operation Sindoor, to assess the state’s preparedness.
During the meeting, he placed the state on high alert and directed the officials to tighten security measures, and ramp up emergency preparedness across departments.
This development also comes ahead of the Civil Defence Mock Drill, scheduled to begin at 4 PM on Wednesday, as announced by the Union Home Ministry on 5 May. With security being ramped up, the state is taking no chances in ensuring peace and public safety during this period.
In a show of support for national security forces, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also announced a solidarity rally to be held on Thursday, 8 May from the Secretariat to Necklace Road, in honour of the Indian Army.
The rally, which will begin at 6 PM, is expected to see the participation of multiple state ministers and senior government officials.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy further directed that all leaves of employees involved in emergency services be cancelled immediately. “All employees should be ready to render services. Ministers and officials must also cancel foreign trips, if any,” he instructed.
In a firm directive to law enforcement, the chief minister ordered police to detain any Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally. “A robust communication system must be set up at the command centre. Strict action will be taken against anyone who disturbs peace and security,” he warned.
Declaring the ICCC a nerve centre for operations, he instructed that all CCTV feeds from the three police Commissionerate’s in Greater Hyderabad be connected to the control room. He also emphasised vigilance over digital platforms. “Government employees must refrain from making controversial remarks in the media or on social media,” he said, adding that a 24×7 toll-free number will soon be launched for citizens to report suspicious activity.
Cybersecurity was another focal point. “Be alert to online misinformation. A special cell will be formed to crack down on fake news that can cause panic,” Revanth Reddy said.
On the healthcare front, he called for the stockpiling of blood and essential emergency medicines. He instructed officials to regularly update hospital bed availability and ensure strong coordination with the Red Cross. Food stockpiles are also to be bolstered.
Security is being stepped up in all district headquarters, sensitive zones, foreign consulates, and IT hubs in Hyderabad. “Surveillance must be increased, and Peace Committees may be engaged if necessary,” the chief minister advised. Police have also been directed to keep a close watch on known criminals and history-sheeters.
