Revanth Reddy addressed farmers who gathered at Rythu Vedikas across the state from the state Secretariat in Hyderabad over a video conference.

Seems like the social media poll on the Revanth Reddy government in Telangana has blown up in the face of the Congress. The poll on X asked a simple question: Which of the two is better — farmhouse rule or prajala vaddaku palana (Governance to the people)?

Surprisingly, a large number of responses — from over 90,000 votes — came in favour of the farmhouse administration, leaving Congress red-faced. The farmhouse rule is inseparably intertwined with former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).

The Congress, before going online with its poll, appeared to have thought that the people would overwhelmingly choose prajala vaddaku palana. It was under the impression that no one would like farmhouse administration.

‘We laid out a trap’

The participants began voting for farmhouse administration in big numbers which was like a bolt from the blue. The Congress came out with an explanation later that it conducted the poll with the intention of exposing the BRS.

“We laid out a trap for the BRS and it just walked in. Who would want farmhouse administration except those who are sympathetic to the BRS? The poll results indicated that the BRS social media teams may have used online bots to vote for the farmhouse administration to embarrass Congress. Otherwise, how could there be as large a participation as 90,000,” said Telangana Congress Social Media Chairperson Manne Sateesh.

He said that the BRS may have used online bots from countries like Dubai and the US to take part in the poll to embarrass the party but by doing so, they exposed themselves that it was their handiwork.

“We did not mention either KCR’s or Revanth Reddy’s name. We did not mention the name of any party. It was a very simple question. Which of the two administrations would you prefer in Telangana? The very fact that a majority of the voters went for farmhouse rule shows that the poll was rigged by the BRS using technology. The votes were cast at night which points to the possibility of participation from abroad,” Sateesh said.

What the results mean

However, the results of the opinion poll did leave a lingering doubt whether the poll was really genuine.

If what Congress is saying is true, how come its own social media warriors did not do what the BRS had done — rigging the poll — to beat the Opposition party at its own game?

It is quite possible that the people are beginning to veer to the conclusion that farmhouse rule is better compared to the present prajala vaddaku palana.

It is a fact that at the time of the last Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, the people preferred the Congress because they were unhappy with the farmhouse administration.

Who knows, the perception of the people might slowly be changing that the farmhouse administration is much better than what is being pushed down their throats now, even though Congress may not believe it.
