The Congress on Saturday, 19 November, expelled senior leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy from the party for six years.

The action followed his meeting with BJP central leader and Union minister Amit Shah in Delhi late on Friday, 18 November night.

According to sources, it would only be a matter of time before the former vice-chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) joins the BJP.

BJP state president Bandi Sanjay and party national vice-president DK Aruna accompanied Shashidhar Reddy when he met Shah.

The four-time MLA from Sanath Nagar in Hyderabad had been in TPCC president A Revanth Reddy’s rival camp.

The exit of Shashidhar Reddy could not have come at a worse time since the party’s morale is at its lowest ebb after it lost the by-election to the Munugode Assembly seat ignominiously, forfeiting even the security deposit.
