Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and IT Minister D Sridhar Babu laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art expansion facility of iCHOR Biologics at Genome Valley on Tuesday, 15 July. Spread over 1.75 lakh sq. ft. in Medchal-Malkajgiri district, the facility is expected to generate over 800 jobs and further consolidate Hyderabad’s position as a global biotech powerhouse.

“Hyderabad has emerged as the world’s bulk drugs capital,” said Revanth Reddy, stating that the city now produces 43 percent of India’s bulk drugs and 33 percent of vaccines. “During the Covid-19 pandemic, it was our industrialists who exported vaccines from Genome Valley to the world,” he noted, commending the sector’s contribution.

The chief minister assured continued policy support: “Even with the change of government, we are taking forward the industrial policies. Our government will introduce even more simplified policies to accelerate growth. Hyderabad will soon become a global data city.”

“Since the Congress government took office, Telangana has secured investments worth ₹3.28 lakh crore. We aim to make Telangana a $1 trillion economy within the next decade. For this, we seek the cooperation of Genome Valley entrepreneurs,” Reddy added.

Babu highlighted Telangana’s growing stature in global life sciences. “Under CM Revanth Reddy’s visionary leadership, we are committed to transforming Telangana into a global hub. The state’s life sciences sector has seen a CAGR of 23%, well above the national average,” he said.

He stressed that Hyderabad is the only Indian city featured in the CBRE Global Life Sciences Atlas 2025, alongside global leaders like Boston, Tokyo, and Cambridge, calling it “a moment of immense pride.”

He revealed that plans are also underway to build dedicated Pharma Villages and foster innovations in gene therapy, AI diagnostics, and sustainable biomanufacturing.
