Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday, 6 January, said that his government was preparing a mega cluster policy for industrial development in the state.
In a meeting with the representatives of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), the chief minister said the government was focusing on taking industrial development to the next level.
As part of the new industrial policy, the government has divided the state into three clusters: The Urban Cluster within the Outer Ring Road (ORR), the Semi-Urban Cluster between the Outer Ring Road and Regional Ring Road, and finally the Rural Cluster, which would come up beyond the Regional Ring Road.
Revanth Reddy said his government has a different view from that of the previous dispensation regarding the pharma city. “Instead of a pharma city, we will create pharma villages. There are 14 radial roads on ORR, which have connectivity with 12 national highways,” he said.
“The pharma villages will come up in about 3,000 acres. They would not affect normal city life and would spare the citizens from possible pollution. The pharma villages will have all facilities like schools and hospitals for those who work in those industries,” the chief minister explained.
Revanth Reddy said he was looking forward to setting up food processing, sports, automobile, and organic clusters besides continuing support to the IT and pharma sectors.
“Hyderabad offers opportunities to the defence sector, including the Navy, to manufacture necessary products.” He said a solar power policy would be announced and there would be attractive incentives to those who set up solar units in Telangana.
The chief minister said there was no room for any doubt on the state’s industrial policy. “We are adopting a friendly policy to attract investments to the state. We will protect every paise invested in Telangana. I want to dispel the notion that the state’s focus is only on rural areas. I want industrial development to take place on an equal scale all across the state and not just in Hyderabad,” he said.
Revanth Reddy said electoral politics and development were two different spheres and that he was keen on the development of the state in the most transparent way. The industrial sector need not entertain any doubts about the Congress government backing industrial development.
He said he would be available round the clock either at his office or camp office and the industry representatives could call on him to make investment decisions. He asked industry captains not to arrive at hasty decisions without either talking to him or ministers or the officials.
He said there were 35 lakh unemployed youth in the state but unlike the previous government, he was not considering them as a burden. They would be made partners in the development of industries. He said he had proposed setting up skill development universities to make the youth industry-ready after their education.
Those who attended the meeting included CII representatives C Sekhar Reddy, Anil Kumar, Suchitra K Ella, Vanita Datla, and others.
