Ahead of the annual conclave of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos of Switzerland, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday, 13 January, reviewed the status of the investments that were promised at the last edition.
The chief minister will leave for Singapore and have talks with the officials of Skills University and other investors between 16 January and 19 January. Later, he will leave for the WEF conclave which will be held from 20 January to 22 January.
During the meeting, conducted at his residence, the chief minister was informed that as many as 17 projects, for which Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed in the last Davos conclave, were grounded. The chief minister could get commitment from 14 global investors to set up 18 projects with an investment of ₹40,232 crore.
Of the 17 projects grounded, 10 were in the advanced stages of completion while seven were still in the initial stages.
The chief minister said that Telangana had emerged as the best destination for global investments in the country. “The state is attracting giant companies in the manufacturing and service sectors. The state government created an investor-friendly ecosystem to woo the investors in the country as well as abroad,” he said.
He asked the officials to be prepared to promote Hyderabad as the right investment destination on the world platform since it would soon have a future city.
The chief minister was confident that the industrial policy of the state government would attract big-ticket investments in the future. “All the welfare schemes and development programmes introduced by the government in the first year helped to the state economy vibrant,” he said.
The officials also briefed the chief minister about the plans to attend the conferences and meetings organised with the representatives of the global industries and investors during the Singapore and Davos visits.
Information Technology and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, Chief Minister’s Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Minister’s Special Secretary Ajith Reddy, and Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) Managing Director Vishnuvardhan Reddy were among those who were present at the review meeting.
