Telangana BRS leader axed to death

A Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader was found murdered in Wanaparthy district of Telangana during the intervening night of Wednesday, 22 May and Thursday, 23 May with his family and the party alleging that it was “politically motivated”.

The deceased, identified as 52-year-old Sridhar Reddy, was unmarried and an active worker of the BRS party. The murder took place in Wanaparthy’s Chinnambavi mandal.

He was found lying in an open area where he typically slept every night. On 22 May, he went to sleep at 10.30 pm but the next morning, his father discovered him in a pool of blood, who then alerted the police.

The victim’s father, in a complaint, alleged that some local leaders of the Congress party were responsible for his son’s death. However, the police said they did not find any evidence in this regard so far.

Cops suspect property clash

Venkateshwar Rao, DSP of Wanaparthy, informed SouthFirst that police suspect a possible property clash and four teams have started investigating the murder. He also said that the deceased’s body was handed over to the family and that a dog squad had arrived at the scene.

“A case of murder has been registered. We are investigating with four teams as we suspect possible property clashes between cousins or political rivalry with a former Congress ZTPTC. The clues team and a dog squad have arrived at the scene. The deceased’s body has been handed over to the family. He was solely a worker for the BRS party and never held any official positions,” said the DSP.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao visited the family of the deceased with other BRS leaders and accused the Congress of political murders in Telangana.

He stated that the current MLA and Minister Jupally Krishna Rao is responsible and he should be immediately dismissed from the party.

Condemning the incident, former Minister and BRS MLA T Harish Rao demanded a thorough investigation into the “political murder”. He also sought stern punishment for the accused.
