He launched the “Invest in Telangana” campaign on Monday, 15 January, at the 54th Annual Conference of the WEF, currently underway in Davos.

Reddy is participating in the WEF meeting with a mindset of attracting investments to the state, his office informed via a statement on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister is meeting representatives of the world’s most prestigious multi-national companies, along with IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu.

The 54th annual meeting of the WEF — a Geneva-based non-profit bringing together prime political, business, and other leaders to a common platform — commenced on 15 January. The four-day forum will end on 19 January.

On the first day of WEF 2024, the Telangana delegation held “key discussions” with several prominent figures.

The Chief Minister held a meeting with Brende — former minister of foreign affairs of Norway and a diplomat who has been holding the WEF chair since 2017.

He discussed the investment opportunities in Telangana while explaining the priorities of his newly-elected government in the state, the release added.

“Discussions were held with the view that if governments, industrialists, and business stakeholders work together, people will become richer and people will be happier if living standards are improved along with sustainable development,” Reddy said, according to the statement.

Later, the Congress leader met Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen Hassen and discussed the route map selected by the state government for industrial development.

Reddy and Sridhar Babu also held a meeting with Debjani Ghosh of NASSCOM, which is a non-governmental trade association-cum-advocacy group that primarily oversees the interests of the Indian technology industry.

The two discussed how skill development in the state could be taken forward, emphasising the placement commitment and providing “valuable” employment opportunities to the youth studying engineering and other degree courses, said the CMO in a release.

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Reddy interacted with members of the Indian diaspora after the state delegation was welcomed by them at the Zurich airport.
