The BJP announced on Monday, 13 November, that Union Home Minister Amit Shah would release the party’s election manifesto during his visit to Telangana on 17 November.

After releasing the manifesto, Shah will take part in election rallies at Nalgonda, Warangal, Gadwal and Rajendranagar.

It was Amit Shah, who first declared that a Backward Class (BC) leader would be made the chief minister of Telangana if the BJP was voted to power in the 30 November Assembly elections. He made the announcement while addressing a meeting in Suryapet on 27 October.

Intensifies campaign

As the countdown for elections commenced with the completion of the process of filing nomination papers, the BJP has intensified the election campaign by roping in Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers, chief ministers of BJP-ruled states and other important leaders for the campaign.

Buoyed by the successful completion of the Parade Ground meeting in Secunderabad on Sunday assuring Dalits on resolving the Scheduled Caste (SC) sub-categorisation permanently by setting up a committee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Telangana again for three consecutive days from 25 to 27 November as part of the Assembly election campaign.

Modi will address a public meeting in Karimnagar on 25 November and another meeting at Nirmal the next day. He will take part in a roadshow in Hyderabad on 27 November.

At the Parade Ground meeting, Modi termed the BRS and the Congress as anti-Dalit while at the LB Stadium meeting, he launched a blistering attack on the BRS and the Congress for neglecting the BC communities.

At a separate press conference in Somajiguda, Union Tourism Minister and Telangana BJP state president G Kishan Reddy blamed the Congress for the inordinate delay in resolving the issue related to SC sub-categorisation.

Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi president Manda Krishna Madiga had briefed Modi on the issue in August and explained in detail the problems being faced by the community.
