After much dilly-dallying over the past few months, former Congress MLA and Telugu actor Jayasudha joined the BJP at its office in New Delhi on Wednesday, 2 August.
Telangana party affairs in-charge Tarun Chugh and state president G Kishan Reddy welcomed her into the party.
Jayasudha said that she joined the BJP after getting attracted to the development initiatives and welfare schemes introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last nine years.
BJP MLA and Telangana Election Management Committee Chairman Eatala Rajender earlier conducted a series of discussions with Jayasudha and persuaded her to join the party. After getting consent from her, Rajender informed Kishan Reddy.

Party sources said that she might be fielded either from the Secunderabad or Musheerabad Assembly constituencies during the forthcoming elections in the state.
With her entry into the BJP, several party leaders including former city Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy, who are aspiring for a ticket either from Secunderabad or Musheerabad Assembly constituencies, are now in a confused state.
Jayasudha, who is popularly known for acting in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi films, was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly from the Secunderabad constituency in 2009, defeating incumbent Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who was earlier in TDP, with a margin of over 4,000 votes.
She won elections with the support of a large number of minority votes in the Secunderabad Assembly constituency, coupled with the people-friendly schemes introduced by former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in united Andhra Pradesh.
She, however, could not retain the seat in the 2014 elections. Jayasudha later joined TDP in 2016 and three years later she quit the TDP and joined the YSRCP.
There were rumours that she might contest the next elections on a YSRCP ticket in Andhra Pradesh in 2024. But she later dropped the idea and joined BJP.
