Synopsis: Telangana ACB officials raided sub-registrar offices in Quthbullapur and Moosapet after complaints of bribery and delays by document writers. Triggered by excessive document processing, inspections found no cash but recovered extra documents. All papers are under verification, with a full probe and report to senior authorities to follow.

Officials from the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) carried out unannounced inspections at sub-registrar offices in Qutbullapur and Moosapet on Thursday, 7 November, prompted by allegations of corruption and procedural irregularities.

The checks followed the discovery of an unusually high volume of documents being processed relative to the number of booking slots, reported The New Indian Express.

The inquiry centred on the conduct of document writers, who were allegedly engaging in malpractices and operating from within the office premises.

The officials stated that they had received complaints against the document writers, who were reportedly harassing members of the public, demanding bribes, and intentionally delaying registrations.

Although no cash was recovered during the operation, several additional documents were reportedly seized from the document writers.

The officials confirmed that all documents are being scrutinised, a thorough probe will be held, and a report will be submitted to authorities.
