The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Abdullapurmet Tahsildar B Sudershan Reddy and Mandal Surveyor Batuka Srinivasulu in Ranga Reddy district on Monday, 12 October, for allegedly demanding and accepting a ₹20 lakh bribe for a layout survey and report.

ACB officials caught Srinivasulu near Abdullapurmet village in the evening while he was accepting the cash from a complainant. He was acting on the tahsildar’s instructions, the bureau said.

The officials had initially demanded ₹30 lakh, according to the ACB. The bribe was sought for conducting a survey and issuing a joint inspection survey report for a layout under Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) guidelines.

The ACB recovered the cash in bundles of ₹500 notes from Srinivasulu. Chemical tests on both his hands returned positive results, the bureau said. Both accused will be produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally in Hyderabad.
