Synopsis: A Mahabubabad tahsildar, Veeraganti Mahendar, and his driver Thuppani Goutham were arrested by the ACB Warangal Range after being caught accepting a Rs 15,000 bribe to process ancestral land registration. The money, demanded for succession formalities, was recovered from the driver. Both were produced before the special ACB court.
A tahsildar and Joint Sub-Registrar of Pedda Vangara mandal in Mahabubabad district, together with his private car driver, have been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for demanding and accepting a Rs 15,000 bribe on Friday, 28 November.
The officer in question, Veeraganti Mahendar, was caught red-handed by the ACB Warangal Range at approximately 4.22 p.m. after he demanded the bribe from a complainant in order to process the registration of land connected to the succession of ancestral agricultural property.

The money was allegedly received through his driver, Thuppani Goutham, to expedite the registration of agricultural land in the name of the complainant’s husband.
The bribe amount was recovered from Goutham, following the trap, after which both the tahsildar and the driver were arrested and produced before the Special Court for SPE and ACB Cases in Warangal.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the complainant’s identity is being protected for safety reasons.
Meanwhile, the ACB has reminded the public to report any instance of public servants demanding bribes using its toll-free helpline 1064 or through WhatsApp, Facebook, and X, with a guarantee that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
