Synopsis: ACB arrested TGSPDCL engineer Shaik Chand Shareef Basha for accepting ₹21,000 bribe to approve a transformer for a poultry farm. Cash recovered; he was produced in Nampally court.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officers on Thursday nabbed a divisional engineer from Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) for allegedly accepting a 21,000 bribe from a complainant.

The accused, Shaik Chand Shareef Basha of the electrical-Operations section in Medak division, was taken into custody, reported The Hindu.

The ACB stated that the officer demanded and received the bribe to expedite a file concerning the approval of a transformer for the complainant’s poultry farm. The money was recovered from Basha’s possession.

He was arrested and later presented before the Special Court for SPE and ACB Cases in Nampally, Hyderabad. Meanwhile, the investigation continues, and the complainant’s identity is being protected for safety reasons, ACB added.

Meanwhile, the ACB encouraged the public to report any instances of officials demanding bribes via its toll-free helpline 1064 or WhatsApp number 9440446106.

Complaints may also be submitted through the Bureau’s official social media channels, with complainants’ identities kept confidential.
