Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Monday, 17 November, arrested three people, including a deputy tahsildar from the Civil Supplies Department, for allegedly accepting a bribe through a middleman.
ACB DSP Y Ramesh stated that Civil Supplies deputy tahsildar Mohammed Yakub Pasha had inspected a ration shop in Tekulapalli mandal on 7 November and sealed it, citing a shortage of stock.
To permit the shop to resume operations, Pasha and technical assistant Vijay allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 from the ration dealer, reported The New Indian Express.
The woman dealer reportedly told them she was in financial difficulty, but Pasha is said to have insisted that the payment was compulsory. Unable to withstand the pressure, she approached the ACB.
