Telangana ACB arrests Kaleshwaram Engineer-in-Chief in disproportionate assets case

The ACB said the searches revealed that the officer acquired these movable and immovable properties by abusing his official position.

Synopsis: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested Kaleshwaram Engineer-in-Chief Bhookya Hari Ram in a case of disproportionate assets. Hari Ram is alleged to have amassed several properties through unlawful practices and dubious means during his service.

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Kaleshwaram Engineer-in-Chief (irrigation and command area development) Bhookya Hari Ram in a case of disproportionate assets on Saturday, 26 April.

“A case of Disproportionate Assets to the known sources of Income was registered against Sri Bhookya Hari Ram, Engineer in Chief, Irrigation & CAD Department, Government of Telangana, Gajwel, who has acquired assets by indulging in unlawful practices and dubious means during his service,” said the ACB in a press release on Saturday.

The agency said that further investigation is underway.

‘Raided 13 locations’

Officials said they have raided 13 locations linked to the official and his relatives. Hari Ram is alleged to have amassed several properties through unlawful practices and dubious means during his service.

“Searches were conducted at the house of above accused officer and 13 other places which belong to him and his relatives. During the searches several properties including Villa at Shaik pet, Villa at Kondapur, flat in Srinagar, flat in Madhapur, flat in Narsingi, commercial space at Amaravathi, 28 acres of agricultural land at Markook mandal, 20 guntas in Patan cheruvu, two independent Houses at Srinagar Colony, Hyderabad, one farm house in 6 acres with mango garden at Bommalramaram, one building under construction at Kothagudem, open plot in Qutubullapur, open plot in Miryalaguda, two four wheelers including one BMW car, Gold ornaments and Bank deposits were unearthed,” the press release said.

The ACB said the searches revealed that the officer acquired these movable and immovable properties by abusing his official position.

“The searches are still going on. The market value is expected to be much higher than the official value. The accused officer is arrested and being sent to judicial remand,” said the officials.
