Tamilisai Soundararajan expresses gratitude to people of Telangana as she resigns as Governor

Soundararajan, who is also the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, submitted her resignation to President Droupadi Murmu.

After stepping down from the post of Telangana Governor, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday, 18 March, expressed gratitude to the people of the state.

“As I am stepping down as Governor of Telangana, I find myself overwhelmed with a myriad of emotions. It has been an incredible journey serving this beautiful state, one that has been filled with joy, challenges, and above all, the warmth and affection of all my brothers and sisters of Telangana,” Soundararajan said in a media statement.

From the moment I took office, I was embraced by the spirit of Telangana. Your unwavering support, kindness, and hospitality have touched my heart in ways I cannot fully express. Each interaction, each moment shared with you, has left an indelible mark on my soul, Soundararjan said.

Earlier in the day, the Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad said that Soundararajan had tendered her resignation.

Soundararajan, who is also the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, submitted her resignation to President Droupadi Murmu.

‘Witnessed growth and progress of Telangana’

She thanked the people of the state for standing by her when the state was witnessing growth and development.

“Together, we have witnessed the growth and progress of Telangana, and celebrated its festivals like Bonalu, Bathukamma, etc. Through it all, you have treated me as your own Akka (elder sister) and lent unwavering support and a sense of camaraderie which have been a constant source of inspiration to me,” she said.

“As I bid farewell to the Governor post, I want to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. Thank you for your unwavering support and for embracing me as one of your own,” she added.

Soundararajan said that even though her time in the office came to an end, her love for Telangana and its people will endure forever.

“I leave with a heart full of memories, gratitude, and profound respect for the incredible journey we have shared,” she said.
