Superstar Krishna last rites to be performed with state honours on Wednesday

Krishna's last procession is expected to be taken from Gachibowli Stadium to Mahaprasthanam on Wednesday, stopping at Padmalaya Studios.

Superstar Krishna’s last rites will be performed with state honours at Mahaprasthanam in Filmnagar, Hyderabad, on Wednesday, 16 November.

His final procession will make its way from the Gachibowli Stadium to Mahaprasthanam on Wednesday afternoon.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, former vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu, former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, and industrialist T Subbarami Reddy paid respects to the late actor at his residence in Nanakramguda on Tuesday.

Actors Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Pawan Kalyan, NTR, Mohan Babu, Prabhas, Allu Arjun, Rana Daggubati, and Allari Naresh, visited the spot to pay their respects to the stalwart of the Telugu film industry.

Filmmakers Mohan Babu, Suresh Babu, Dil Raju, R Narayana Murthy, and others also showed their respect on Tuesday.

KCR remembers Superstar

“I have a special bond with Superstar Krishna’s family. I have visited their home several times and was impressed by his frankness and friendly nature,” said Chandrashekar Rao told reporters after paying respects to the late actor at Nanakramguda.

“When I said that I have watched his Alluri Seetha Rama Raju movie many times, he laughed,” The TRS chief recalled.

His contribution to the Telugu film industry is immeasurable. I have ordered officials to conduct Krishna’s last rites with state honours,” said the chief minister.

Preparations underway for last rights

Krishna’s body was taken to his residence at Nanakramguda from Continental Hospitals on Tuesday morning. The body was kept at Nanakramguda for the visitors to pay respects.

Krishna’s body was to be taken to Gachibowli Stadium around 5.30 pm, and kept there till noon on Wednesday for people and his fans to pay their last respects.

However, this journey was not possible due to traffic restrictions, and his mortal remains continued to be kept at his residence on Tuesday.

As Krishna has a large fan base, family members are expecting visitors in large numbers. Fans from different parts of Andhra Pradesh are also arriving to have a last glimpse of their favourite actor.

Krishna’s last procession is expected to be taken from Gachibowli Stadium to Mahaprasthanam after noon on Wednesday. The procession will stop at Padmalaya Studios for some time.

The last rites will be held at Mahaprasthanam in Filmnagar with full state honours after 4 pm.
