Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday, 12 June, appealed to the people to elect the BRS in the next elections if they wanted the welfare schemes to continue in the future.
Addressing a public meeting at Gadwal after inaugurating the integrated collectorate office complex, the chief minister said that there has been a radical improvement in the living standards of the people in the state after the advent of the BRS government.
“The BRS government has been providing 24-hour power supply, Rythu Bandhu, and other welfare schemes. It has introduced Dharani to help you deal with land-related issues without any hassle,” he said and asked them whether they agreed with the Opposition’s demand for Dharani to be scrapped.
He said, “They are saying that they will dump the Dharani in the Bay of Bengal, which we have brought after a three-year effort. You decide for yourselves whether Dharani should stay or go. You give a fitting answer to those who are against Dharani.”

The chief minister said that if the Rythu Bandhu subsidy amount was being credited into farmers’ bank accounts, it was because of Dharani.
“If any farmer dies, the Rythu Bheema amount of ₹5 lakh is credited to his nominee’s bank account,” he explained.
KCR stated that the BRS government had brought a sea-change in the way the people in the Gadwal district lived.
“Earlier, people used to go to other states in search of livelihood. Now, agricultural labourers from other states are coming here to make a living.”
He said that the Andhra “rulers”, before the bifurcation of the state, used to say that if Telangana was created, there would be no power supply. But Andhra was just 25 km from there. “You find out for yourselves how better off Telangana is compared to Andhra,” he challenged.
The chief minister also announced a grant of ₹10 lakh to each village panchayat, ₹15 lakh to mandals, and ₹50 crore for Gadwal Municipality.
Addressing employees after the inauguration of the integrated collectorate office, the chief minister said that Telangana had come a long way on the road to development.
“Telangana is now a role model for other states. We are competing with bigger states. We are top on the list of the states in per capita income. Telangana has proved itself in several sectors including power supply, irrigation, and ODF. In food grain production, the state had beaten Punjab, breaking its 50-year record.”
