KTR, Dileep Konatham and Manne Krishank.

The Nakrekal police of Nalgonda district in Telangana slapped cases against BRS Working President KT Rama Rao, party social media in-charges Manne Krishank and Konatham Dileep following complaints by Nakrekal Municipal Chairperson Chowgoni Rajitha, Uggidi Srinivas.

This apart, a case has separately been registered against KTR and Dileep Konatham on a complaint lodged by Nakirekanti Narender under the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) (Atrocities) Prevention Act.

The complainants said that the BRS leaders made allegations that they had connections with those involved in leaking the Telugu question paper of the SSC (Secondary School Certificate) on the first day of the examinations on 21 March.

They further claimed that Rama Rao, widely known as KTR, had shared a post on X by a handle named Telugu Scribe, which suggested ties between them (complainants) and the accused in the paper leak case.

FIR details

The first case, filed based on Rajitha’s complaint, named Manne Krishank (A1), KTR (A2), and Konatham Dileep (A3) as the accused.

The second case, on Srinivas’s complaint, listed Konatham Dileep (A1), Manne Krishank (A2), KTR (A3), Telugu Scribe MD (A4), and Mirror YouTube channel MD (A5) as accused, with charges including Sections 353(1)(c) and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The third case was filed naming KTR (A1), Konatham Dileep (A2), and the managements of T News Channel and Telugu Scribe YouTube channel. Charges include (353(1)(c), 353(2) BNS (2)1(U) SC ST POA Act.

The complainant, Narender, a follower of Congress MLA Vemula Veersham, alleged that a BRS leader falsely claimed that one of the accused, Bandi Sreenu, who is from the Madiga sub-caste, was his driver, which amounted to a caste-based slur.

According to sources, 11 individuals, including two minors, had been booked in the SSC paper leak case of which six were arrested including one minor, while six others remain at large.

BRS leaders deny allegations

Krishank told South First that the cases filed against them were politically motivated and alleged that a nexus existed between the accused and Congress MLA Vemula Veersham. He criticised the police for targeting BRS instead of investigating the links connecting the leak they have provided.

He said that all he did was probe into the antecedents of the accused in the paper leak case, which the police should do, and he discovered that they were all very close to Nakrekal Congress MLA Vemula Veersham and other Congress leaders.

He said: “As far as KTR is concerned, he only shared our findings on X, and Dileep posted a news clipping of Namasthe Telangana on social media. Instead of probing our leads, the police booked us. The police have to investigate how the question paper leaked and whether any school management was also involved in it to improve its rankings.”

Krishank also condemned the SC/ST Act case registered against KTR and Dileep Konatham, arguing their posts did not target any caste. He demanded a CBI probe, citing doubts over a fair investigation given the ruling party’s alleged involvement.

“Let the police find out how the question paper had leaked and through whose social media accounts,” he said.
