Synopsis: The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs has suspended the licences of nine food establishments in Hyderabad’s LB Nagar area after inspections on 16 September found spoiled food, pest infestations, expired stock and poor hygiene. Ten teams inspected 20 establishments and seized about 6,120 kg of poor-quality groundnuts worth roughly ₹5.5 lakh from Bhuvaneshwari Oil Industries.
The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) has suspended the licences of nine eateries and food units in Hyderabad’s LB Nagar area after enforcement teams found spoiled meat and vegetables, pest infestations, expired stock and unhygienic food-handling practices during inspections on 16 September.
Ten teams comprising Food Safety Officers and police personnel inspected 20 establishments across LB Nagar and neighbouring localities. The establishments included restaurants, hotels, bars, sweet shops and oil manufacturing units.
The inspections found cockroaches and rodents, poorly maintained refrigerators, and refrigerators where vegetarian and non-vegetarian food was not kept separately. Staff at several establishments were also found not following basic hygiene practices.

The suspended establishments have been ordered to stop operations immediately. They are Hotel Sangeeth Grand, Bahar Biryani Café, Balaji Pheni and Namkeen, Bhuvaneshwari Oil Industries, Hotel Sindhura East Court, Chemistry Bar and Kitchen (Surabhi Grand), New Limra Hotel, N Village Multicuisine Restaurant and Hotel Kinara Grand.

At Bhuvaneshwari Oil Industries, officers found workers handling groundnut kernels with bare hands in an area with cobwebs. They seized about 6,120 kg of poor-quality groundnuts, valued at roughly ₹5.5 lakh, on suspicion of contamination.
Seven other establishments—Galaxy Café and Restaurant, ANTERA Nagole, Hotel Saradhi Grand, Lucky Restaurant, Vijaya Raghavendra Hotel, Bhagavati Misthan Bhandar and Joint Al Mandi—were issued show-cause notices. The notices precede possible penalties.
Ramakrishna Oil Mill, Green Land Dhaba, Kefi Café, and One lounge Bar and Kitchen were issued improvement notices. They will be reinspected to verify compliance.
