KCR at an election rally

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said on Monday, 13 November, that Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Telangana Party (YSRTP) president YS Sharmila was sending currency bundles to defeat the BRS’ Narsampet candidate Peddi Sudarshan Reddy in the 30 November elections.

Narsampet was special because the people there foiled the attempts of supporters of united Andhra Pradesh to create disruptions during the agitation for a separate Telangana, he noted.

He said Sharmila, who bore a grudge against Sudershan Reddy, was saying that currency bundles would be sent to defeat him.

“Should Sudershan Reddy win or Sharmila’s currency notes? Should 24-hour power win or Sharmila? Who should win the elections?” he asked the people while addressing the Praja Ashirvada Sabha public meeting that resumed after a short break.

The meeting was organised as part of an ongoing election campaign taken up by the BRS.

KCR highlights achievements

“People from other states are saying to defeat us by sending currency notes. Should we lose?” asked KCR, requesting the people in Narsampet to think wisely and not get confused before exercising their valuable vote.

Compared to last time, the BRS would win more seats, and people should support Sudershan Reddy and ensure his victory to continue the same development, he added.

Highlighting various schemes, especially enhanced pensions given to the beneficiaries under the BRS government, he said there were only four or five medical colleges in Telangana before the formation of the separate state.

The situation has now changed completely, as each district now has a medical college, he said, adding that Telangana would be able to produce 10,000 doctors next year with these colleges.

The pro-farmer measures taken by the state government helped in making Telangana the number two state in the country in paddy production, he said.

Telangana has produced as many as 3 crore tonnes of paddy this time, and would soon become the rice bowl of the country as the production would touch 4 crore tonnes, said KCR.

Taking on Congress

At a separate public meeting in Aswaraopet, the chief minister said that 75 percent of the construction work of the Sita Rama Lift Irrigation Project was completed.

Once the project was inaugurated, water would be supplied to 10 Assembly constituencies in the Khammam district, he said.

It was the BRS government that was giving 24-hour quality power to the agriculture sector, he noted.

In the Burgampadu public meeting, KCR criticised Congress leaders for failing to respond on how they would ensure direct cash transfer benefits to farmers without the Dharani portal, a one-stop destination for carrying out agricultural land registration transactions.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A Revanth Reddy have been saying that they would remove the portal if the party was voted to power in the Telangana Assembly elections.
