A Hyderabad-based woman actor filed a complaint at Banjara Hills Police Station against a casting director named Prasad, alleging cheating, physical harassment and criminal intimidation after he withheld her payment for work on a Telugu film.

The police received the complaint on Friday, 12 June. Contradictory accounts are emerging regarding the woman actor.

Some reports suggest that the complainant is a veteran with 15 years of experience, but Banjara Hills police told South First that she is a 21-year-old junior artiste.

The complainant was brought on board for the production of an upcoming Telugu film, Akasham Lo Oka Tara, in October 2025. She completed her schedule by December 2025 and was promised ₹90,000 in remuneration and an additional ₹38,000 in travel reimbursements. She alleged that neither amount was paid.

Coerced and threatened

Matters turned dangerous on 18 February 2026, when Prasad called the woman for a meeting near Sagar Society, Banjara Hills. It is alleged that instead of settling the dues, the accused coerced her into his vehicle, threatened her, and made unwanted advances with the promise of better film opportunities.

The survivor’s mother later called Prasad to follow up on the payment but was met with an abusive response. The accused also claimed to have exploited other women similarly and boasted that no legal action could be taken against him.

He reportedly threatened to kill both the actor and her mother if they approached the police.

Banjara Hills Police have registered a case under Sections 75 (Sexual harassment), 79 (Insulting the modesty of a woman), 351(2) (Criminal intimidation) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

K Vijay, Sub-Inspector of Police, Sector 1, Banjara Hills, told South First that the investigation into the case is ongoing. He also shared that the accused, Prasad, is currently absconding.
