Secunderabad Gymkhana stampede: Five of injured still in hospital, two discharged

The seven fans who were admitted to the Yashoda hospital suffered from bone fractures and soft tissue injuries.

Five of the seven cricket fans who were admitted to Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad after the Gymkhana ground incident are still in hospital while two have been discharged.

The seven fans who were admitted to the hospital suffered nasal bone fractures and soft tissue damage, among other injuries.

On Thursday, 22 September, at least 20 people were injured as the Hyderabad City Police resorted to a lathi charges after a large crowd rushed into the gymkhana grounds in Secunderabad to buy tickets for the India Vs Australia cricket match scheduled on 25 September at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium at Uppal in the city.

Speaking to South First, a Yashoda Hospital official said seven injured individuals had been admitted to the hospital.

“They were brought to the emergency ward. The injuries are not serious and their medical evaluations are going on. One patient had internal bleeding (hemorrhage), which was a serious case but reached the hospital on time and the patient is stable, ” said the official.

After the treatment two of the admitted fans were discharged from the hospital while the remaining five will be discharged in a day or two, said the official.

Of the five still in hospital. Ranjitha, who was present during the stampede, has received blunt trauma in the chest, Srikanth, who is a police constable, has a nasal bone fracture, Adithnath, has a fracture in the left ankle, teenager Aliya has a hemorrhage, and Srinath, also a police constable, has a sinus hemorrhage.

Two patients who have been discharged are Sai Kishor and Sujatha, both of them had tissue injuries.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad police have booked Hyderabad Cricket Association’s President Mohammad Azharuddin and other members for the black sale of tickets. The cops acted on a complaint filed by an injured sub-inspector and an injured lady. According to the complainant, it is alleged that HCA sold a high stake of tickets in black.
