Schneider Electric, a global leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, on Thursday, 29 September, hosted the ground-breaking ceremony for its ₹300 crore state-of-the-art “smart factory” at GMR Industrial Park in Hyderabad.
The event was attended by IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao and Ambassador of France to India Emmanuel Lenain, among others.
Spread over 18 acres, the upcoming facility will be the company’s second factory in Telangana.
The facility will help in strengthening resilience in supply chain operations.
According to the firm, the new facility would be developed in two phases.
The first phase will be developed over 2 lakh square feet and is expected to be completed in September 2023.
IT Minister KT Rama Rao said: “The upcoming smart factory will greatly contribute to the state’s economy, which is emerging as a leading investment destination. With India rising as an economic power, opportunities are infinite.”
KTR said that the facility will cater to the needs of the industry, magnify revenue-generation opportunities and boost job-creation.

Ambassador of France Emmanuel Lenain said, “This factory will be a demonstration of how state-of-the-art technology can support sustainable manufacturing and job-creation. It is also emblematic of Telangana’s economic dynamism and attractiveness for French businesses.”
“Schneider Electric’s decades-long presence in India is a success story that mirrors the strength of the Indo-French partnership and France’s commitment to helping India meet its sustainable development goals,” he added.
Schneider Electric India Pvt Ltd Zone President, India, Anil Chaudhry said, “The new, upcoming smart factory is a testament to our commitment towards making Hyderabad a leading manufacturing hub in the country. We will be investing over ₹300 crore in this project, which will, in turn, create an additional 1,000 jobs.”
Calling the facility a step towards building the “Aatmanirbhar Bharat“, Chaudhry said, “We believe that as an industry leader, it is the most opportune time for us to accelerate our efforts and contribute to the economic growth of the country and the states.”
Schneider Electric’s International Region global supply chain vice president Javed Ahmad said, “The vision behind this facility is to cater to the needs of our customers and be more resilient against future disruptions. The upcoming smart factory will harness the power of Industry 4.0 technologies to make better and faster decisions for enhanced customer experience.
“This new facility with 75 percent export volume capacity will strengthen our position as a reliable export hub for our global customers.”
Ahmad added that the new facility in Telangana will amplify our contributions to the Make In India programme.
