KCR launched a scathing attack on the Congress, accusing it of betraying the trust of Telangana’s citizens.
Synopsis: Bharat Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday expressed confidence that the party’s candidate, Maganti Sunitha Gopinath, will win the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election. KCR launched a sharp attack on the ruling Congress, criticising its governance as “exploitative and corrupt” and condemning the party’s candidate as a “rowdy-sheeter”, urging voters to reject Congress and support the BRS for Hyderabad’s dignity and stability.
Breaking a prolonged silence, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) expressed confidence that the party’s candidate, Maganti Sunitha Gopinath, would win the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election.
The bypoll was necessitated by the death of Sunitha’s husband, Maganti Gopinath, a prominent figure in the constituency.
Addressing senior party leaders and coordinators at a strategic meeting at his Erravelli residence on Thursday, October 23, KCR said that while the BRS’s victory is assured, the party must explain its efforts to connect with voters.
He urged party workers to engage directly with the public to highlight what he called the “disastrous misrule” of the ruling Congress government and to mobilise support for a sweeping mandate.
KCR launched a scathing attack on the Congress, accusing it of betraying the trust of Telangana’s citizens through an “exploitative and corrupt administration” that has plunged the state into chaos.
He singled out the Congress’s candidate for the Jubilee Hills bypoll, calling them a “rowdy-sheeter” and saying the nomination insults the intelligence and moral conscience of Hyderabad’s electorate.
“By fielding a candidate from a rowdy-sheeter family, the Congress is testing the wisdom of Jubilee Hills’ voters,” KCR said, expressing confidence that the constituency’s residents would reject the Congress nominee to uphold the dignity, peace, and security of Hyderabad.
The meeting, chaired by KCR, served as a platform to fine-tune the BRS’s campaign strategy and secure a massive victory for Maganti Sunitha Gopinath. Discussions focused on strengthening grassroots efforts, coordinating booth-level operations, and intensifying voter outreach to ensure a decisive margin.
Prominent BRS leaders in attendance included Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR), former ministers T Harish Rao, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Mohammad Mahmood Ali, S Niranjan Reddy, V Srinivas Goud, P Sabitha Indra Reddy, G Jagadish Reddy, Laxma Reddy, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Chamakura Malla Reddy, and Errabelli Dayakar Rao.
Constituency coordinators presented detailed reports on ground-level campaign progress, noting an overwhelmingly positive response to the BRS candidate. KCR reviewed the updates and issued instructions to bolster field operations, emphasising door-to-door campaigns and voter engagement to maximise turnout.
KCR called on party cadres to visit every household in Jubilee Hills, educating residents about the Congress government’s alleged failures, including derailing Telangana’s development, damaging its economy, and dismantling welfare initiatives that flourished during the BRS’s decade-long governance.
“The people of Telangana must be reminded of the inclusive welfare and progress achieved under BRS rule. They should question why those transformative programs have been abandoned under Congress,” KCR told the gathering, rallying party workers to contrast the BRS’s achievements with the current administration’s shortcomings.
The BRS leader also recalled the party’s track record of fostering development and stability in Telangana, particularly in Hyderabad, which he described as a beacon of progress under BRS governance.
He accused the Congress of undermining the state’s growth trajectory and urged voters to use the by-election as an opportunity to send a strong message against misgovernance.
As the by-election approaches, the BRS is intensifying its campaign efforts, with senior leaders and cadres working in unison to ensure Maganti Sunitha Gopinath’s victory. The party aims to leverage its organisational strength and public support to reclaim Jubilee Hills and reinforce its influence in Telangana’s political landscape.
