Synopsis: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy inaugurated the 3.2-km Chanchalguda-Santoshnagar steel flyover in Hyderabad, built at a cost of ₹620 crore, and announced several development projects in the Old City. Hyderabad MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi welcomed the announcements but said his party’s cooperation was with Reddy personally, not the Congress. Reddy also accused the BRS and BJP of creating hurdles to the Musi River rejuvenation project.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday, 3 September, inaugurated the 3.2-km, four-lane Chanchalguda-Santoshnagar steel flyover in Hyderabad, built at a cost of ₹620 crore and announced several development projects in the Old City.
During his address at the event, Reddy termed the Old City the “original city” and directed officials to clear every development request made by Hyderabad MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi. He also sanctioned ₹25 crore for a college following a request from the AIMIM.
Owaisi said that AIMIM’s cooperation was extended to the Chief Minister personally and not to the Congress party.
He announced that the Metro Rail line between Gowliguda and Chandrayanagutta would be completed before the next Assembly elections. The Metro network would also be extended from Nagole to LB Nagar, Bandlaguda, Rajendranagar and Shamshabad.
The Chief Minister also confirmed plans for a 3-km cable bridge across Mir Alam Tank, modelled on the bridge at Durgam Cheruvu.
Owaisi, who attended the inauguration, thanked Reddy for the announcements. He said, however, that AIMIM’s cooperation was extended to the Chief Minister personally and not to the Congress party.
Owaisi said the BRS had only laid the foundation stone for the flyover and that actual construction began after Reddy released funds. He said the spread of communal politics would derail Telangana’s development and advised the Chief Minister to increase his outreach to communities at the ground level in Hyderabad.

Reddy used the occasion to attack the BRS and BJP for allegedly creating hurdles to the Musi River rejuvenation project.
He said the BRS had performed a ceremonial groundbreaking for the flyover without releasing funds and that his government had subsequently funded and completed the project.
Separately, the Chief Minister recalled Owaisi and his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi’s vocal support for Operation Sindoor, and said the brothers were no less patriotic than Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
“We may have differences in political opinion, but no one should question Asaduddin Owaisi’s patriotism,” he added.
