CM cautions voters

The chief minister was highly critical of both BRS and BJP for trying to cut Congress down to size in Telangana, and cautioned voters against their designs.

He appealed to BRS workers to realise that KCR had surrendered them to BJP to get bail for his daughter K Kavitha, who is in Tihar Jail now in connection with her suspected role in the alleged Delhi Liquor Policy scam.

Revanth said the BRS-BJP covert understanding was nothing new, and that it had harmed Congress’ interests in the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections as well.

He said Congress candidate Saritha, who belongs to a Backward Class (BC) community, lost the Assembly election from Gadwal because BJP, headed by party leader DK Aruna, helped BRS candidate Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy win the seat.

Had Saritha won the election, she would have become a member of the Cabinet by now, but it did not happen because BRS and BJP had conspired against Yadava Kurmas, he said.

She would have been the third woman minister in the Cabinet after tribal leader Danasari Anasuya Seethakka and another BC leader, Konda Surekha.

Wooing Mudiraj community

Revanth came down heavily on the BRS and wondered whether only KCR’s family members — and no one else — should become the chief minister of Telangana.

“The BRS appears to be very much upset that it is out of power. The leaders can’t bear seeing a leader from Mahabubnagar becoming the chief minister. Why shouldn’t one from Mahabubnagar become the chief minister? Aren’t we eligible? Should only KTR should become the chief minister? Do we have a dynasty rule in the state?” he asked.

Revanth Reddy also asked why BRS was urging the people to defeat Congress, which has been in power for hardly a little over three months.

“After I came to power, I have been working round the clock. I have already redeemed five of the six guarantees. However, BRS is asking why Congress should come to power, while not asking why Narendra Modi should be elected again, though he has done nothing for Telangana, or more so for the Mahabubngar district. This is proof enough that both BRS and BJP are in league,” he said.

The chief minister vowed to make a BC leader from the Mudiraj community a minister if it helped the party win 15 Lok Sabah seats in the state. “I am making a promise to you all. Help Congress win 15 seats, and a Mudiraj will become a member of the Cabinet,” he said.

As he spoke highly about Makthal Congress MLA Vakiti Srihari, who belongs to the Mudiraj community, it appeared as though Revanth was referring to him.

The chief minister also promised to redeem the pre-poll assurance of waiving farm loans of up to ₹2 lakh in one go before 15 August this year.

“There is no need for any doubt. It will be done by 15 August. I am not going back on this promise,” he said.

He also announced that the provision of LPG cylinders at ₹500 and supply of 200 units of power free of cost would resume after the end of the Model Code of Conduct, which is in force for the Lok Sabha elections.

He also promised that from the next crop (kharif), he would take steps for the payment of bonuses of ₹500 per quintal of paddy to farmers at the time of procurement.
