At the State-Level POCSO Conference held at MCHRD, Hyderabad, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy underscored the urgent need for a collective, compassionate approach to protect children from sexual abuse. Addressing an audience that included Hon’ble Supreme Court Judge Justice Surya Kant, Acting Chief Justice of Telangana High Court Justice Sujoy Paul, and stakeholders from the police, legal, and child welfare sectors, he called the conference theme — Voice for the Voiceless — “a vital mission for society.”
Revanth Reddy highlighted the Telangana Bharosa Project, which has set up 29 centres providing legal aid, counselling, and medical care to child survivors. He emphasized the pioneering role of Hyderabad’s Child-Friendly Courts in ensuring both speedy justice and long-term child welfare.
While acknowledging the strength of the POCSO and Juvenile Justice Acts, the Chief Minister urged for reforms that minimize trauma to survivors during legal procedures. He demanded harsh penalties for child pornography and social media abuse, promising the State’s full commitment to eradicating these crimes.
“Justice,” he said, “is not just about conviction — it’s about restoring dignity and reclaiming lost childhoods.” He urged all stakeholders to work with unity and compassion to ensure child safety across every level of the justice system.
