I-T raid in Hyderabad

Officials of the Income Tax (I-T) searched at least 15 locations of Mythri Movie Makers Private Limited, a leading production house in Telangana, on Monday, 12 December.

Besides officials stationed in Hyderabad, sleuths from neighbouring states, too, were part of the search carried out under the protection of central forces.

The I-T sleuths were believed to be primarily focusing on finding evidence for investments allegedly made by non-resident Indians in the US and other foreign countries for making various films.

Sources said the investments would become clear after verification of the documents and other digital evidence seized during the searches.

A few days ago, the I-T department officials searched the premises of Vamsiram Builders. The department had earlier searched the properties and educational institutions belonging to the Labour Minister Ch Malla Reddy and his family.

A few family members of the minister appeared before the I-T officials to provide information about various financial transactions, sources said.

Mythri Movie Makers has to its credits movies such as Pushpa – The Rise, Sarkaru Vaari Pata and Janata Garage. The I-T searches came even as the production house was busy with the shooting of two big-budget movies, Waltair Veerayya with Chiranjeevi and Veera Simha Reddy with Nandamuri Balakrishna.
