President's helicopter landing in Pochampally.
Three police personnel were injured during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Pochampally in the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana on Wednesday, 20 December.
According to sources from the department, the injuries were caused due to high air pressure during the landing of her aircraft.
An Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and two other police personnel were injured during the landing of the President’s aircraft.
A senior official from the Rachakonda Commissionerate told South First, “When the President’s helicopter was landing in front of the meeting hall in Pochampally, there was too much air pressure. Due to this, an ACP suffered injuries in his wrist. He was admitted to a hospital and is now recovering. Two constables also suffered minor injuries.”
President Droupadi Murmu visited handloom and spinning unit and interacted with Ikat handloom weavers in Pochampally Village of Telangana.
The President visited the handloom and spinning unit as well as the theme pavilion at Pochampally and also witnessed the art of weaving.
She also had an interaction with the Ikat handloom weavers of Pochampally.
One of the weavers requested the President of the establishment of a yarn depot in Pochampally and the state government officials assured of looking into the request.
Pochampally was selected as one of the best tourism villages by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).
Pochampally is known for the exquisite sarees that are woven through a unique style called Ikat. This style, Pochampally Ikat, received a Geographical Indicator (GI Status) in 2004.
The President arrived in Hyderabad on Monday as part of the annual southern sojourn.
