BJP Telangana meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is soon expected to address a massive public meeting, to be organised by the BJP to mark the culmination of the ongoing 11,000 street-corner meetings of party functionaries being held across the state.

BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar announced this while speaking to reporters in the Roopkhanpet village of the Parigi Assembly constituency in the Vikarabad district of Karnataka.

Bandi Sanjay said there had been a huge response to the street-corner meetings aimed at allegedly exposing the failures of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government of Telangana.

“In an unprecedented manner, we have been holding 11,000 street-corner meetings. Subsequently, public rallies would be held in every Assembly constituency headquarters, followed by similar rallies in the 10 erstwhile district headquarters,” he said.

In a culmination of all these meetings and rallies, a massive state-level public meeting would be held, the venue of which would be decided later, said Sanjay.

“We are planning to invite Modi and other top BJP leaders for the public meeting,” the Telangana BJP president said.

More details

Sanjay accused the BRS government in Telangana of throwing to wind several promises made in the state, including providing irrigation to 1 lakh acres of parched lands through Palamur-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation scheme.

“Except the funds released by the Narendra Modi government, the gram panchayats have not been getting a single rupee from the State government. The sarpanches are forced to commit suicide for non-clearance of pending bills by the State government,” he alleged.

Earlier, addressing the street-corner meeting, Sanjay said KCR —  who welcomed his Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and took him around Kondapochamma Sagar — had forgotten the fact that many of the farmers who had given away their land for the project were yet to get rehabilitation and resettlement package.

“The chief minister was not bothered even when one of those farmers immolated himself for not getting compensation for the land,” he said.

Attacking the Congress

Stating that the Congress had lost its relevance in Telangana as it had joined hands with the BRS, Sanjay said the BJP was the only party which could shake the ruling BRS.

“It was the BJP that had forced KCR  to come to Dharna Chowk and then to villages,” he said.

Describing all those who were joining the BRS as invalid currency, the Telangana BJP president said of people who lost faith in the new avatar of KCR: “They have realised that the BRS is a corrupt, dynastic, and dictatorial party, and also a party of Razakars. They believe that only the BJP has the capacity to pull the BRS down from power.”

He said the Centre was generously releasing funds to Telangana though there was no BJP government here. “But unfortunately, Chandrashekar Rao has been slinging mud at the Centre, saying it was not releasing any money to the state and on the other hand, he was creating hurdles in the implementation of Central schemes.”

Stating that KCR completely ruined the state by pushing it into a debt trap of ₹5 lakh crore, Sanjay wondered how the chief minister would implement his political promises when he was not able to pay even the salaries of his employees on time. “If he is voted to power again, he will resort to borrowing another ₹5 lakh crore,” alleged Sanjay.

He also promised that if the BJP was voted to power, it would not do away with any of the present welfare schemes; instead, it would introduce better schemes like free health and education to the poor.
