He said that there is no guarantee that Congress MLAs would remain with that party after the elections; he said they will go the BRS.

With barely a few hours more for the culmination of the public campaign for the 30 November Assembly elections in Telangana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took out a roadshow from RTC Crossroads Junction to Kachiguda in Hyderabad on Monday, 27 November.

Modi, accompanied by state BJP president and Union minister G Kishan Reddy and BJP MP K Laxman, received a rousing welcome during the event, with people showering flower petals on him and some women performing the aarti.

He also paid floral tributes at the statue of Veer Savarkar at Kachiguda, where the roadshow concluded.

Modi stated that he had been witnessing a wind of change in Telangana, and the next five years would be crucial for the state’s development.

“For the first time, the BJP government will be formed in Telangana, and a BC (Backward Class) leader will be the chief minister. The people of Karimnagar showed the trailer of defeat to Chief Minister and BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao in the Huzurabad by-election,” the prime minister said.

“Now, in the Assembly elections, you will send him home. Forming a BJP government in Telangana is very important, since in 2024, the BJP will come to power at the Centre again, and having a double-engine government will speed up development and progress in the state,” Modi said in Karimnagar.

“We will show how Telangana will become number one in the country. You cannot leave the future of Telangana to fate. We have to take care [of it]. For us, the development of the nation, including every state, is important. Whenever you tell people you have voted for development, pride in the nation, public support, and the welfare of the poor, the only name that comes to mind is the BJP. I am seeing the winds of change,” he added.

“The BRS and the Congress did not let go of any opportunity to cheat you. Corruption and appeasement are the names of both parties that will come to your mind. There is no guarantee that Congress MLAs will remain with the party. They will join the BRS. If you wish to send the BRS home, vote for the BJP,” he said, adding that the Congress humiliated late prime minister PV Narasimha Rao both before and after his death.

‘BJP will free Telangana’

Asserting that the BJP would free Telangana from the clutches of the BRS, Modi said it was his party’s resolve to send the corrupt leaders of the Chandrashekar Rao-led party to jail.

Modi, who addressed election rallies at Mahabubabad and Karimnagar, said, “The saffron party considers as its responsibility to bring Telangana out of the clutches of BRS… whatever the scams KCR (K Chandrashekar Rao) was involved in here, would be probed by the BJP government (in the state),” he said.

He warned that the BJP government would not spare those who had betrayed Telangana’s poor and youth. “Our resolve is to send the corrupt BRS to jail,” he said.

Noting that he had the opportunity to interact with many people during three days of campaigning in the state, Modi said the people of Telangana had already resolved to oust the KCR government.

‘Congress, BRS destroyed Telangana’

Lashing out at the Congress and the BRS, the veteran BJP leader held both parties equally responsible for “destroying” Telangana. “The people of Telangana cannot allow another disease after getting rid of one,” he said.

“Telangana’s trust is in the BJP, and the people of the state have decided that the next chief minister will be from the BJP,” Modi said.

Invoking former prime minister Narasimha Rao, he said the soil of Karimnagar had given a PM to the country in the form of Rao, and alleged that the “shahi parivar (royal family) of the Congress did not like it and insulted him at every step”.

“Not just that, even after the demise of Rao saab, the shahi parivar of the Congress did not let go of any opportunity to insult Narasimha Rao ji,” he said.

The “parivarvadi” (dynasts) only think of their children and have no concern “for your children”, he told the crowd.

Pointing out that such dynastic parties “destroy” law and order, the senior BJP leader said as long as the Congress was in power, bomb blasts were often reported. “Even today, where the Congress party is in power, terror outfits like the PFI get a boost,” he said.

Modi cautioned people against the Congress and the BRS, calling both the parties “one”. “Only the BJP can enhance the prestige of Telangana,” he claimed.

Election campaigning in Telangana will conclude on Tuesday evening.
