Synopsis: Peoples Pulse showcased remarkable accuracy in its pre-poll and exit poll projections for Telangana municipal and corporation elections. Director R Dileep Reddy highlighted that vote share estimates aligned with final outcomes in over 90 percent of cases, with Congress dominant, BRS sidelined, and BJP gaining ground.

Peoples Pulse, a leading research organisation, has once again demonstrated exceptional accuracy in its pre-poll and exit poll assessments for the recent Telangana municipal and corporation elections.

In a statement on Saturday, 14 February, R Dileep Reddy, Director, Peoples Pulse Research Organization, said they had released its projections for the election to 2,582 municipal wards and 414 corporation divisions held across the state after the conclusion of polling.

These included detailed estimates of likely wins by party in divisions and wards, along with projected vote shares for each major party.

From the outset, Peoples Pulse has emphasised that vote share percentages provide a more reliable and realistic indicator of public sentiment than mere seat counts alone.

He said: “While seat numbers can fluctuate slightly due to last-minute shifts in voter preferences between the survey period and polling day— influenced by various factors—the vote shares have consistently been in line with final outcomes in our surveys. This pattern held true once again in these elections.”

Actual results closely mirror projections

  • BRS failed to secure even a single corporation, as predicted.
  • BJP emerged as the principal Opposition in Karimnagar and Nizamabad corporations.
  • Congress secured a dominant position in the remaining corporations and a majority of municipalities.

“Across the large-scale elections covering 2,581 municipal wards and 414 corporation divisions, our survey estimates matched the ground reality in over 90 percent of cases—a remarkable feat given the scale and complexity,” Dileep Reddy said.
