Synopsis: Panchayat secretary Gorlapalli Raj Kumar was caught red-handed by ACB accepting a Rs 5,000 bribe in Bellampalli to release a Rs 10,000 Indiramma housing bill. Arrested and remanded, this is the second bribery case in Kannepalli mandal within two months.
A Panchayat secretary was detained by Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officers while allegedly accepting a Rs 5,000 bribe in Bellampalli on Friday, 5 December.
This marks the second such incident at Kannepalli mandal headquarters within two months, reported Telangana Today.
ACB officials stated that the secretary, Gorlapalli Raj Kumar, posted at Kannepalli mandal centre, was caught red-handed accepting the bribe from a beneficiary of the Indiramma housing scheme in exchange for releasing a Rs 10,000 bill in Bellampalli town.

The beneficiary’s husband contacted the ACB after Raj Kumar persistently demanded Rs 10,000, later settling for Rs 5,000.
Officers set a trap and arrested him the moment he took the money. Raj Kumar was produced before a special ACB court in Karimnagar and remanded in judicial custody.
On 27 September, a technical assistant from the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development department was arrested by the ACB in the same mandal centre for allegedly taking a Rs 10,000 bribe to carry out official duties.
