BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Saturday, 19 November, said he was not afraid of receiving any notices from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Telangana police in connection with the ongoing investigation into the “Cash for MLAs” scam.

The BJP leader, in reply to a question at a news conference, on the possibility of the SIT serving a notice on him after it had sent a similar notice to BJP General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santhosh, said: “It is not the first time that we get notices. We are not like the TRS leaders who sit at home, faking a fracture to a leg. We will take them.”

The BJP president, after visiting the residence of BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind which was vandalised by the TRS workers on Friday, described it as inhuman act and an axe-fall on the roots of democracy.

The TRS workers not only ransacked the house but also damaged the images of Gods. This has proved that KCR does not believe in Hinduism, he said.

Bandi Sanjay demands action

Sanjay Kumar said that his party workers were a disciplined lot and would not resort to physical assaults on political rivals. “As the TRS workers had trespassed into Arvind’s house, I demand stern action against them,” he said.

He also wanted to know the justification for the attack.

“Our MP had not used any foul language. He only shared information that he got to know that Kavitha had consulted AICC president Mallikharjun Kharge, expressing her willingness to join the Congress. He was only speaking the truth. Even then the TRS cadres were unable to tolerate criticism and resorted to highhandedness,” he said.

The Karimnagar MP said that he and party vice-president DK Aruna had brought the attack on Arvind’s home to the notice of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah who, in turn, spoke to Arvind and asked him not to lose heart over the physical attacks.

‘KCR sent feelers’

Asked if any leader from the BJP had invited Kavitha into the saffron party as claimed by KCR, Sanjay Kumar said that she was of no use to his party.

“What would we do with her? We did not care even when KCR went to Delhi and sent feelers. Why should we bother about his daughter?” he asked.
