Singer-performer-actor Diljit Dosanjh is set to perform in Hyderabad on Friday, 15 November evening, as part of his Dil-Luminati tour.
Ahead of the same, the Telangana government issued a notice to the organisers and the singer directing him to not sing songs promoting alcohol, drugs and violence.
It also warned against using children on stage during the performance which uses sounds over 120 dB.
“According to the World Health Organisation, adults should not be exposed to sounds with a peak sound pressure level above 140 decibels. For children, the level is reduced to 120 decibels. Therefore, children should not be used on stage during your live show where peak sound pressure is above 120 decibels,” it said.
“Your concert guidelines say that children are allowed below 13 years of age. Concert guidelines also say that concerts may include loud sounds and flashing lights – both of which are harmful to children,” the notice added.
The notice was issued after a complaint was filed by a Chandigarh-based individual Panditrao Dharenavar, against Diljit Dosanjh to prevent him from singing such songs at the live show.
The government notice further cited evidence submitted by the complainant, according to which Diljit sang songs like “CASE, Panchatara, Patiala Pegg” for a live audience in New Delhi on 26 and 27 October.
The notice dated 7 November has been issued by the district welfare officer of the Department of Welfare of Women and Children, Disabled and Senior Citizens, Rangareddy district.
“Therefore we are issuing this notice in advance to deter promoting alcohol/drugs/violence through songs in your live show,” it read.
