BRS leader and ex-IPS officer RS Praveen Kumar took to the social media platform X to share that he had won a case against the aeroplane carrier Air India.
Praveen Kumar further shared the ordeal of missing a flight in 2020 with no mistake of his, and the legal battle that followed.
Claiming that “No corporate is invincible”, Praveen Kumar added, “As long as you have the will to put up the fight. Never Give Up”.
Recalling the ordeal, RS Praveen Kumar said in 2020 the Air India plane from Pune to Hyderabad had taken off without him despite him having a valid boarding pass.
Further narrating the incidents of the day, Praveen Kumar said, he was supposed to take the flight scheduled to depart at 23:40 hours (11:40 PM) according to the Air India website, from Pune. Accordingly, the IPS officer-turned-politician planned to reach the airport at 22:40 (10:40 PM).
However, while on his way to the airport, Praveen Kumar received a call from Air India station manager, asking him to rush to the airport as they had decided to “release the flight at 22:40 (10:40 PM).”
He further added according to the manager, “The flight landed early and 53 passengers already boarded it.”
With the sudden change, Praveen Kumar had no way to reach the airport in time, “The Station Manager, without any sense of empathy and responsibility, released the flight without waiting for me and I eventually missed the flight.”
Despite the Air India flight departing, Praveen Kumar managed to reach Hyderabad for an important meeting by taking the Spice Jet light, which luckily had a vacant seat.
Praveen Kumar added, “I had to attend an important meeting in Hyderabad the next day and I would have missed it but for the Spice Jet flight which had a vacant seat and I reached home at 2 AM!!!”
The ex-IPS officer added that he had approached Air India for damages, however, they “Vehemently denied any wrongdoing.”
Praveen Kumar, aggrieved by the response chose to take the legal route. with the help of a high court advocate P Suresh Kumar, he approached the local consumer court.
The BRS leader finally won the case, with the consumer court judge rejecting Air India claims, and awarding him a compensation of ₹1.05 lakh.
Praveen Kumar added that he has decided to use the money to help the advocate “strengthen his office to help many citizens who are taken for a ride by the big corporate companies including airports/railway stations which collect huge hidden taxes”
Further Praveen Kumar shared the contact details of the advocate: nani.bhel@gmail.com
Happy to share with you that I have won a case over @airindia for taking off without having me on board from Pune in spite of having a valid boarding pass in 2020.
It was truly a harrowing experience.
