Synopsis: Florida Highway Patrol said the car, a 2025 Hyundai Elantra, caught fire after it veered off the road and crashed in the area of mile marker 172 in Palm Bay in the Southeastern US state around 9.49 am (EDT) on Tuesday, 25 August.
A Nizamabad student was among three people from Telangana killed after the car they were travelling in crashed into a tree and caught fire on Interstate 95 in Florida’s Brevard County.
The Navipet, Nizamabad man, identified as N Rahul, and others were heading towards their part-time work when the crash occurred.
Florida Highway Patrol said the car, a 2025 Hyundai Elantra, caught fire after it veered off the road and crashed in the area of mile marker 172 in Palm Bay in the Southeastern US state around 9.49 am Eastern Daylight Time (approximately 7.18 pm, IST) on Tuesday, 25 August, WFTV Orlando reported.
According to Rahul’s family, Rahul had been speaking to his mother, Nagamani, back home on Tuesday when he said his friends had come to pick him up.
He had left for the US three months ago to pursue a Master’s degree after completing his MS. He was also seeking employment. Rahul used to contact his family daily.
Reports quoting Rahul’s father Haribabu said the identities of the other two deceased Indians were not immediately known.
However, it has been learnt that two people were killed instantly, while Rahul died in a hospital.
Haribabu requested assistance from the state and central governments to repatriate the bodies.
The Telugu Association of North America has been coordinating with the US authorities to repatriate the bodies.
