The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apprehended an absconding charge-sheeted accused, carrying a cash reward of ₹2 lakh for his arrest, in connection with the Nizamabad PFI case, as per a statement issued by it on Saturday, 2 March.

The case pertains to an anti-India conspiracy by the banned outfit to carry out acts of terror and violence.

Abdul Saleem, the 15th accused to be arrested in the case, serves as the State Secretary for the PFI Telangana North.

The case, originally registered by the State Police at Nizamabad Police Station in July 2022, was later taken over by the NIA in August of the same year.

The NIA statement said that an integral part of the PFI’s conspiracy, involving Saleem and its cadres, was to transform India into an Islamic nation by 2047.

Saleem has been on the run since the case came to light, prompting the NIA to announce a reward for his arrest.

He was apprehended from Mydukur in the Kadappa district of Andhra Pradesh following an intelligence-led operation, the probe agency said.

NIA investigations in the case (RC-03/22/NIA/HYD) revealed that Saleem was involved in the radicalisation and recruitment of impressionable Muslim youth into the PFI, it further stated.

According to the central agency, he was additionally sending them to terror training camps to undergo weapons training, to equip them to advance the outfit’s nefarious anti-India agenda.

In December 2022, the NIA had chargesheeted 11 accused, including Abdul Saleem, with supplementary chargesheets issued against five in March and one in December last year.
