Musi land acquisition: BRS leader Krishank accuses Telangana Minister Sridhar Babu of misleading assembly

Synopsis: BRS leader Krishank has accused Telangana minister D Sridhar Babu of misleading the Assembly by saying no notification had been issued for land acquisition under the Musi Riverfront project. He shared a Form C notification dated 11 February 2026, and said it shows the government had begun acquiring over 50 acres in parts of the district during the project’s initial phase.

BRS leader Krishank has accused Telangana Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu of misleading the Assembly over land acquisition for the Musi Riverfront project.

After the minister told the Assembly that no notification had been issued either by the district administration or the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation for land acquisition, Krishank, in a post on X, called this “blatantly false” and said the government had issued public notices for land acquisition related to Musi beautification works near the Gandhi statue.

He shared an official notification published as a newspaper advertisement and said it clearly shows that the acquisition process had been formally set in motion.

The notification, according to Krishank, pertains to the initial phases of the project, covering stretches along the Esa and Musi rivers, and involves the acquisition of over 50 acres in parts of the district.

He accused the government of attempting to “mislead both the public and the House” on a sensitive issue involving land acquisition and livelihoods.

Project covers 46 villages

The Form C notification, dated February 11, 2026, was issued under Section 11 of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 (RFCTLARR Act), declaring specific land parcels for a public purpose.

Landowners in flood-prone and buffer zones were asked to voluntarily part with land, and compensation was to be paid in line with the 2013 law.

The listed areas include Kismatpur, Bandlaguda Jagir, Upparpally, and adjoining villages.

The larger Musi project covers 46 villages in 14 mandals along a 55-km corridor from Gandipet to Gowrelly.

Thousands of properties are expected to be affected. Officials have said compensation will be provided as per law.
