Months after being denied position of Chief Secretary of Telangana, senior IAS officer Jayesh Ranjan opts for voluntary retirement
Jayesh was aspiring to be the CS but Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy preferred Jaju at the last minute. Sources in the bureaucracy said this has not gone down well with Jayesh.
Months after he was denied the position of Chief Secretary of Telangana, senior IAS officer Jayesh Ranjan has decided to opt for voluntary retirement.
Jayesh is due to retire 30 September, 2027, but intends to move out much before. “Yes, I will be applying for VRS in the next 2-3 months once I complete all critical assignments am personally handling in the Hyderabad Metropolitan Area,” Jayesh Ranjan confirmed in response to a query from South First.
Asked if he intends to pick any private assignment, the IAS officer said he has “not yet decided.”
Jayesh played a key role in the IT department during the 10-year-rule of the Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) from 2014 to 2023. He continued to remain in key positions even after the Congress came to power. Having served in the same department for the first two years of the Congress dispensation, he moved to the Chief Minister’s Office as Special Secretary (Industries and Investment Cell).
A few months ago, he was shifted to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Area around the same time that the State Government got a new Chief Secretary (CS) in Sanjay Jaju, a 1992 batch officer who returned from central deputation in June, 2026.
