Modi expected to visit Telangana on 12 July to lay foundation stone for railway unit in Kazipet

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to arrive at Telangana on 12 July to lay the foundation stone for the railway coach periodic overhauling unit in Kazipet in the erstwhile Warangal district.

The Telangana BJP is contemplating organising a public meeting with Modi as a chief guest on the same day in Warangal. Party leaders, however, said more clarity on Modi’s visit would be available in a couple of days.

Scheduled visit postponed

Modi was supposed to visit Telangana at the end of June as part of the Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyaan programme, but it was postponed and he is now likely to arrive on 12 July.

The central leadership is also organising a meeting with the party presidents of 11 states on 8 July in Hyderabad. The general secretaries from the 11 states will also attend.

Sources said the meeting with the state presidents might positively impact the BJP in Telangana, where Assembly elections are likely to be conducted by the end of this year.

Booth committee members reach Hyderabad

Meanwhile, as many as 600 booth committee members from different places in the country arrived in Hyderabad on Wednesday on a special train from Bhopal.

These members came to Hyderabad after attending a programme ‘Mera Polling Booth Sabse Mazbooth,’ addressed by the Prime Minister in Bhopal.

After forming three separate groups, these members would visit Kazipet, Mancherial and Secunderabad.

The members would take up various programmes to strengthen the Telangana unit of the party on all fronts. Party state general secretary G Premender Reddy, who attended the meeting in Bhopal, accompanied the 600 members to the city.

Meanwhile, BJP Telangana state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar met party National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santhosh in New Delhi and discussed the party affairs.

Santhosh reportedly hinted to Sanjay that the central leadership has started a major exercise to make changes in the party and prepare it for the next parliamentary elections in 2024.
